Another Weekend Past

Another minor leak in the bath. . .so that took some time on repairs. Have concluded that trying to drive out on the weekends is rather ridiculous so am moving the spare bed out and gonna spend next weekend "roughing" it. Ha. . . There is nothing so very enjoyable as working on this place.  This is a busy week at work but gonna make the supreme effort to get most everything packed up here in the bunker.
The house has begun to "speak' to me. . .yes, I know. . .but it does. . .telling me just how it will look when all the work is finished. Calling it another early night. . .Catch up again in a few days. Took some more pics. . .just have to figure out how to download.(Ha). . .

Catching up from yesterday ~
Got a great deal accomplished and was very tired last night. Water, albeit a small leak, is a go. . .ripped all the old carpeting out and the floor in the bath is not as bad as I first thought. Should be an easy fix. . . pics coming soon. . . .Have a splendid day.

Long day. . .going to bed early. Big day tomorrow. . .Listening to one of my favorite songs.

"Going home, going home
I'm just going home
Quiet like, some still day
I'm justa going home

It's not far, just close by
Through an open door
Work all done, cares laid by
Going to fear no more"

Of Mice and Whistlepigs
Traveled out to the homestead this evening after work to make sure the e-lectric company had turned on the lights. They had and so I made a quick check of the circuits and the heat and air conditioning unit, all of which is in good order. I had stocked in some vienna sausages and saltines for snack food so I grabbed a stack of crackers, can of viennas and a root beer and sat in the swing outside and just enjoyed my supper in the ebbing sunshine. Walked out back afterwards and there I saw Mr. Whistlepig (that's a groundhog for you urban folk). Apparently he has made himself at home under the bedroom, so before he scurried in to his abode I told him in a very stern manner that he must either find more suitable digs or face Rural Renewal Relocation Program (funded by either Have-a-heart or Smith & Wesson). Not certain he listened too well but we shall see. Before I left went back inside to lock up and just happened to open one of the kitchen cabinet drawers when Mr. Mouse poked out his head. My reaction time is still quite good for I was able to slam the drawer shut before he could make his getaway. . .needless to say he has now moved on to a higher plane. Looks like I'll be working part of the weekend so I am taking off Wednesday to drive up to Gainesboro and get the water turned on. Then back to the house to then check the plumbing. . .not very exciting but just part and parcel. Brother BD surprised me today by offering his help in getting the place bush-hogged and that in itself is a God-send. Time to walk the dog and do a bit of packing before bed. . . Be back in a day or two.

What it is today. . .

May 10th - 12th, 2013. . . A start that may change. . .just trying to get my blog up before I become isolated from the world.
Closing is done and what a sweet joy knowing that part of what I've longed for is now close to becoming true. Spent part of yesterday and most of today just getting a feel for the house and land, visualizing what goes where and how and when it will all come together. Ah ~ If I could just go POOF, wriggle my nose or afford to just hire everything done at once. . .but  none of that is possible. So like every other farmstead since the beginning  of time it will take a considerable amount of effort and persistence to take the beautifully painted canvas in my mind and bring it to reality. But I can do that. . .I was raised to do that and given the skills through both nature and nurture. More in a day or two. . .Also bought a digital camera. . .if I can figure out how to use it I will post pics soon.
